This Writer’s Two Cents

This reflection came from a place of truth that needed to be spoken. I’ve watched too many people sacrifice their own purpose on the altar of comparison. I’ve seen gifted individuals waste years trying to dim someone else’s light instead of letting their own shine. This message isn’t just for you—it’s for anyone who’s ever felt the weight of jealousy or been on the receiving end of someone else’s envy. Today, we’re breaking free from that cycle. Let’s dive in.

Cain killed his brother and still didn’t become the accepted one. Let that sink in.

If that doesn’t tell you something profound, nothing will. Pulling people down will never raise you up.

When Competition Makes You Forget Who You’re Meant to Become

Too many people are so focused on competing that they’ve forgotten who they’re even supposed to become. Have you asked yourself lately, “What’s your purpose in life?”

You think throwing shade, copying someone’s work, or discrediting another person is going to make you look better. But here’s the truth—it only exposes what’s in your heart at your core.

The Real Reason Cain Lost

Cain didn’t lose because Abel was better. He lost because his spirit was bitter.

And that’s what so many people don’t realize. Jealousy isn’t just a character flaw—it’s delayed destruction. It eats away at your purpose, your peace, and your position.

Listen closely: You cannot build elevation off of envy, evil intentions, manipulation, or false accusations. It’s impossible.

Pure Intentions Don’t Compete—They Celebrate

When your intentions are pure, you don’t even compete. You clap. You don’t tear people down. You take notes.

Because the moment you start hating on somebody who’s walking in obedience, you’ve just told God you don’t even trust your own assignment.

Think about that.

The Lesson We Can’t Ignore

Cain killed his brother and still wasn’t chosen.

So stop thinking that ruining somebody else’s name will make yours shine brighter. That’s not elevation—that’s ego. And God doesn’t bless ego. He exposes it.

Your Sunday Challenge

This week, ask yourself:

  • Am I focused on my purpose or comparing myself to others?
  • Are my intentions pure or poisoned by jealousy?
  • Am I celebrating others’ wins or secretly hoping they fail?

Your assignment is already yours. Nobody can take it. Stop competing and start becoming.

Share this reflection if it spoke to your spirit. Let’s choose elevation over ego together.
