Gentle souls, fellow travelers,

Have you ever experienced a brief moment where a stranger’s words resonated deeply with your soul? Today’s whisper delves into divine appointments that serve as reminders of our interconnectedness in this vast cosmic dance.

The Unfolding

Last Tuesday, while I waited for my coffee at the town’s local café, an elderly woman with brilliant green eyes and silver hair observed me nervously checking my watch. I was running late for a meeting where I wanted to offer a proposal I wasn’t totally confident in.

“You look like you’re carrying the weight of tomorrow on your shoulders today,” she added with a knowing smile.

I laughed nervously while describing my position.

She softly patted my arm and said, “You know, sweetheart, I spent my first fifty years worried about how others perceived my voice. I dedicated the next twenty minutes to using my voice effectively. Believe me when I say that the only voice you’ll regret is the one you never share.”

Our interaction lasted less than three minutes. My coffee arrived, and we exchanged pleasantries before I walked out the door. But her words stayed with me in that conference room and have echoed in moments of self-doubt ever since.

The Soul Lesson

I’ve been thinking about how often the Universe sends these messengers our way—strangers who provide carefully worded insight that feels specifically tailored to our journey. They emerge in checkout lines, on park seats, even next to us on trains. They say something that pierces through our carefully created walls, then vanish before we can completely appreciate the gift they’ve bestowed.

These interactions have reminded me that wisdom does not always come in the form of trusted mentors or favorite books. Occasionally it comes from the most ordinary exchanges, packaged in the most regular moments—if we’re open enough to notice it.

Maybe we all take turns being messengers, carrying truths that others need to hear and saying what we need to embody.

Sacred Practice: The Messenger Journal

This week, I encourage you to attempt this soul-nourishing practice:

  1. Bring a tiny notebook or utilize your phone’s notes app.
  2. When a stranger says something meaningful, timely, or unexpectedly moving, record it.
  3. Make a note of when and where it happened, as well as how you felt.
  4. At the end of the month, evaluate the collected whispers and search for any patterns or themes.
  5. Consider how you may have unintentionally served as a messenger for others.

Soul Inquiry

When was the last time you felt like a stranger was speaking directly to you? What message came unexpectedly, and how did it affect you? How can you stay more open to these divine appointments in your daily interactions?

Until our paths cross again, keep in mind that you can often find insight in everyday conversations. Stay open to the whispers that come to you through odd messengers.

With presence and light,

Remember, strangers who speak to our souls remind us of a lovely truth: we are never truly alone on this trip. Our tales intersect in ways we can’t always see but can definitely feel.

Send this to someone who needs a reminder that hope and wisdom can come at any time.
